Here's the no-nonsense privacy policy: we do not collect any personally identifiable information, your email address, phone number, waist size or shoe size, unless you specifically write to us and tell us. No matter what, we will not spam to you other than making our very best attempt to do you the courtesy of replying should you choose to contact us.
We do use cookies, which is a small identifier used by any site that has a login or wants to get an idea about who is visiting their site. We do two types of tracking:
- Google Analytics is a free service from Google that gives us some basic, non-personal information about our visitors such as what sort of browser they're using, whether they came from a search engine and which one, and so forth. It does not collect any information that lets us identify you personally.
- Whenever possible, we append tracking information to product links so that merchants (Zappos, REI, Sierra Trading Post) know that you came from our site and credit us for our hard work, creativity, and humor (that is, most merchants give us a commission). Merchants only inform us that someone bought something, but not who made the purchase nor anything "personal". Obviously, whatever information you give to a merchant you purchase from is between you and them.
